How To (Pledge Process)
The Greek system in Canada is slightly different than how it functions in the states. That being said, Western’s Greek scene is still one of the strongest that exists at Canadian universities. It offers several choices of fraternities and sororities so that each individual can find a club of best fit.
At The Kappa Alpha Society, we take a different approach to how we recruit our members. Our pledge process is unique and catered to ensure that each individual has a memorable experience. More specifically, it is designed in a way so that each person has the opportunity to meet the brothers, learn more about KA, attend weekly meetings, network with alumni members, and have a good time at parties/other social events.
In September (or January for Winter Rush), we invite all those from the UWO student-body who are interested, curious, or even just looking to meet new people and have a good time. Our first few events tend to be social. After 3-4 weeks of being introduced to KA and meeting our active members; if you think that this is something you want to be part of, we invite you to attend our open meetings and events. At this point, you will have the opportunity to pledge to become Kap. There’s really only two ways for you to pledge: show interest and be yourself.
At the end of the series of meetings and events, you will be invited to attend our yearly reunion at the VOO lodge. This will grant you the opportunity to call yourself a Kap, meet brothers from other chapters, and network with our extensive list of alumni.
Our entire pledge process is completely free. It is unique, one of a kind, and cannot be matched by any other fraternal groups. We do not haze! So you really have nothing to lose. Come out, meet new people, learn more about KA, grab some food and drinks, and experience a life-lasting extracurricular activity!
